Human Resources Manager


Denver, Colorado start-up management and intellectual property holding company operating in the cannabis and hemp spaces has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager will report to the company’s General Counsel, but will be directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function. Initiative, attention to detail, strong organization skills, self-motivated and ability to take direction and work independently are critical. Responsibilities include: Developing and administering various human resources plan and procedures for all company personnel. Coordinates on-boarding and orientation for all new hires. Planning, organizing and controlling all facets of the company’ HR needs. Developing HR goals, objectives and systems. Aiding in implementing and annually updating the compensation program. Rewriting job descriptions as necessary; conducting annual salary surveys; analyzing compensation; monitoring the performance evaluation program and revising as necessary. Developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures; updating and maintaining handbook on policies and procedures. Overseeing employee grievance and discipline program. Performing benefits administration. Spearheading recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt workers; working with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducting reference checking; extending job offers; conducting new-employee orientations; conducting exit interviews. Establishing and maintaining employment records and reports. Participating in administrative staff meetings and attending other meetings, seminars, and professional development programs. Maintaining organizational charts and employee directory. Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws. Other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience A bachelor's degree and three years of human resource experience, or seven years of experience in the HR field. Preferred Education and Experience A master's degree in human resource management. Experience in small business or start-up business. Knowledge of multi-state HR rules and regulations. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Must be able to pass background check for state regulatory authorization to work in cannabis industry. Salary and Benefits Salary commensurate with experience.
