The Controlled Environmental Agriculture Division (CEA Division) at Griffin provides solutions to growers producing medicinal and edible crops under cover, both in greenhouses and indoor grow facilities. This quickly expanding, diverse market touches growers of all sizes, from small to very large, and Griffin brings solutions to serve all grower types. We are looking for high energy, passionate professionals to join our ambitious, hard-working team in this young Division with an eye towards growth and building customer success. The CEA Sales Representative sells horticultural products and supplies to CEA growers producing edible and medicinal products under cover from sales office, home office, or customer’s place of business by performing the following duties. This role will focus on serving CEA businesses in California, including legal, licensed marijuana growers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manages assigned accounts Travels regionally and nationally to call on current and prospective customers as assigned to generate sales to meet and exceed personal, division and company sales and profit goals Manages accounts to ensure visibility to business plans and acts on sales opportunities consistent with and supportive of these plans. Develops short and long term account goals and strategies to maximize sales Actively manages product sales to meet and exceed gross margin goals. Estimates date of delivery to customer. Prepares reports of business transactions, customers concerns. Conveys product knowledge using displays, sell sheets, catalogs or other tools to engage customer interest. Communicates with vendors and/or customers by telephone and email to answer questions. Documents customer meetings and interactions appropriately in Prelude Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Uses discretion when selling to customers ensuring creditworthiness. Notifies collectors, supervisor and owners of customer status. I.e. Good season, out of business or other facts pertinent to collection activities. Acts as liaison between customer and collectors to bring past due accounts up-to-date. Enters orders into Prelude and develops fluency with Onliant; encourages customer use of Onliant. Travels with vendors to build knowledge and seek additional sales opportunities. Works to achieve team goals Participates in recurring team meetings in person or via phone/web conference to coordinate team activities, share information regarding customer need and convey competitive market trends. Works with CEA team members to ensure full communication and understanding of client project needs to enable team success in meeting project commitments and timelines Completes and submits travel expenses for reimbursement on a biweekly basis. Attends sales meetings. Staffs Griffin Expos to drive sales and attends regional and national trade shows to generate leads and build the Griffin brand. Holds all internal Griffin information and communications confidential, unless otherwise instructed. Maintains an awareness of potential non-CEA leads and conveys these leads to regional sales managers. Treats all vendors, customers and team members with professional respect. Job Requirements: Education and/or Experience: Previous experience in, or exposure to, the horticultural industry, is very conducive to an expedient learning curve. Candidates with experience in commercial cannabis production will receive stronger consideration. Two to four years’ sales experience. Must possess the skills required to work in a fast-paced environment where a high level of pressure and stress may be involved. Degree in Horticulture or Business Management Preferred.
